Community -- The Key to Addiction Recovery
A community of recovering alcoholics and addicts is key to a successful life-long recovery. We understand the importance of involving friends, family and others who are traveling the path of recovery. This is why we have an Alumni Services program for our graduates who have successfully completed any of our treatment programs. The recovery process is a life-long pursuit, and although it can be a difficult one, it can be made easier when you have people who are able to support you or your loved one in recovery. The ability to meet, play, volunteer, learn and socialize together is a crucial part of becoming healthy in mind and body for the recovering person. Our treatment programs give the tools so the addiction may be overcome. The Alumni Services program is another step after treatment to ensure success in using these tools in the road to recovery. This group will help to establish and maintain a connection with the recovery community, and is a great way to stay connected and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Addiction Recovery and Alumni -- Taking The Right Step
Our graduates will tell you that The Right Step treatment programs and Alumni Services' aftercare really work. No treatment program can be as successful as The Right Step's programs without the aftercare component. Our Alumni programs provide aftercare that helps prevent alcohol or drug relapse by establishing a social support network of recovering people and the structure to maintain a sober lifestyle. When a person makes a choice to enter treatment to get help with alcohol and/or drug abuse, they begin a journey that can be demanding on all aspects of their newly sober life. As the person graduates, there is happiness, but there may also be some fear. Alumni services provide a way for the recovering person to gain support and witness the success of others who have gone through a similar process. How Does Alumni Program Work?
The Right Step's Alumni Program offers activities and support to graduates of The Right Step treatment services. Our alumni group plays softball, goes to meetings, plans picnics and other events that maintain a sense of community. A recovering person can feel alone, even with family members who offer support, so it helps to have others that have gone through the program as peers. Even more important is the opportunity to have someone who has been on the path to recovery for sometime available and willing to lend support and a positive word of advice. The great thing is that the alums can do this while in fun social situations, such as team sports, dinners, or any other number of activities. It's part of the long-term plan for recovery that makes our programs so successful.
