Addiction
Denial: Drug Relapse and Alcohol Relapse – Outpatient Program
Session Six of Outpatient Treatment at The Right Step will provide you with the opportunity to achieve recovery from drug or alcohol addiction through the process of deepening your understanding of the relapse process and all of the steps involved.
Experienced, licensed instructors will describe the second step of relapse, which is denying that you are stuck. Often, a drug addict or alcoholic will use denial to convince themselves that everything is okay, rather than recognizing they are stuck and asking for help.
During this relapse step, it may seem as if the problem is eliminated when it actually is not. The facts may instead be that a problem is simply “underground” where the individual suffering from the disease of addiction may not be able to recognize it. While there may be a comprehension of the problem’s existence on some level, time and energy may be invested in addiction denial, resulting in a buildup of pain and stress.
Drug Addiction and Alcoholism: Relapse Process
At The Right Step, your eight-week Outpatient addiction treatment will progress from learning about the impaired thinking of denial involved with drug and alcohol addiction on to helping you better understand more details of your experiences in the addiction disease in order to achieve positive change in your life.
Following your group discussions and instructions regarding step two of the relapse process in addiction, you will be able to participate in the addiction treatment session reviewing the compulsive behaviors included in the relapse steps.
