Addiction Recovery: Dealing with Scheduling
Outpatient Addiction Treatment at The Right Step includes a series of educational Sessions during this eight-week drug and alcohol abuse treatment program. During Session Nine of your recovery treatment, you will be learning how to promote structure in your life for long-term drug-free living.
An important aspect of this structure that you will be learning about is scheduling. Scheduling should be a positive experience. Supportive, experienced instructors during your addiction treatment will help you to see that scheduling can be an ally in your recovery from substance abuse addiction.
Scheduling provides both protection from addiction relapse and help in the reassertion of control over your life. However, at times scheduling can become tedious, aversive, or stressful, which can result in a negative experience for the drug addict or alcoholic.
Positive Scheduling for the Drug Addict and Alcoholic
You will be aided in discovering how to use scheduling as a positive tool in your life. Some of the problems individuals may have experienced with scheduling include having too demanding of a schedule or the imposition of someone else’s desires, instead of the using the schedule of your own choosing.
Problems encountered with scheduling that you will learn about, as well as learn ways to avoid include unrealistic scheduling, neglecting balance, imposed scheduling, scheduling without involving your significant other and schedules as they are affected by holidays, illnesses and other changes in daily life.
