Addiction
Relapse-Dysfunctional Behavior– Outpatient Program
Once you have learned about the point of the relapse process wherein you began to experience internal dysfunction, you will then proceed into the group discussions regarding the next stage, which is where external dysfunction becomes apparent. This education regarding the 11 parts of the relapse into active addiction is provided in Session Six of the eight-week Outpatient treatment program at The Right Step.
You will learn that as the internal dysfunction cannot continue to remain hidden, the problems experienced by the addict then begin to show up in a number of aspects of the life of the drug addict or alcoholic. A variety of experiences are involved in this external dysfunction stage of the relapse process that you will be able to consider with guidance and increased understanding during your addiction treatment program.
The Increase of Problems in Sobriety
Supportive, licensed instructors will help you to better comprehend the way that this internal dysfunction is initially intermittent. It may be annoying, but you might not consider it to be a real problem. Many suffering from drug addiction and alcoholism learn how to ignore this pain and lack of internal stability.
While on some level, it is apparent to the individual with
the disease of addiction that something is wrong, they begin to keep their
feelings and experiences a secret. Eventually it gets so bad that the problems
on the inside create problems on the outside. Mistakes at work become more
prevalent, creating issues with friends, families, and coworkers. This dysfunctional
behavior may include neglecting the recovery program. The problems then continue to worsen, leading
the alcoholic or drug addict further along toward the path of reaching actual drug relapse.
