Addiction Treatment: Effect of Perception on Emotions – Outpatient Program
During your addiction treatment program, Intensive Outpatient at The Right Step, you will be provided with the opportunity to participate in a series of educational treatment Sessions. In Session Seven, your group will be guided through discussions regarding the emotions experienced by the alcoholic and drug addict.
You will be introduced to the medical understandings of the varying ways that experiences effect the emotions of different individuals. Supportive, licensed professionals will describe the history involved in the idea of the effect of beliefs upon the emotional state of an individual.
An opportunity to reflect upon your views and the ways that these have contributed to your emotional well being as an individual suffering from the disease of addiction will be granted to you during Session Seven of your eight-week Intensive Outpatient addiction treatment program.
Drug and Alcohol Addiction: Addictive Thinking
Intensive Outpatient addiction treatment at The Right Step will include information from the writings of Albert Ellis, PH.D., who was an American psychotherapist and psychologist and who developed REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy), which is based on the premise that whenever we become upset, it is not the events taking place in our lives that upset us. Rather, it is the beliefs that we hold that cause us to become depressed, anxious, enraged, etc.
Moving forward in your outpatient addiction treatment, the
goal of happiness in the life of the addict will be further discussed.
