Alcohol and Addiction: Misconceptions and Treatment –
Outpatient Program
Once you have completed Session Three of the Outpatient treatment program at The Right Step, you will have been guided by our supportive licensed professionals through the process of understanding more about alcohol and addiction to drugs, the misconceptions involved with substance abuse, the ways that society is affected by the disease of addiction, as well as the treatability of alcohol and drug addiction.
You will have come to understand that there are a variety of factors leading up to substance abuse addiction, including genetic predisposition, psychological factors involved in the life of the addict, as well as environmental factors influencing substance abuse resulting in addiction.
Through a series of discussions and visual exercises, you will have learned more about the effect of substance abuse on the brain, coming to understand that after repeated exposure to alcohol or drugs, the brain neurotransmitters in the individual using drugs or alcohol can experience change.

Substance Abuse Addiction: Group Therapy Treatment
Your group discussions and educational exercises will have included learning about the financial and emotional costs of substance abuse addiction on society, as well as how widespread the problem of addiction truly is.
Discussions regarding the misconceptions involved in addiction include the issues of will power, morality, religious beliefs and even intelligence. Upon further comprehension of what these misunderstandings are, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the ways that they can come into play during the process of your recovery from drugs or alcohol.
You will learn the ways that discipline, taking initiative and accepting responsibility for your behaviors is a part of your recovery process as you are assisted in increasing your understanding to develop an increased ability for achieving recovery and arresting your drug or alcohol usage.
The eight-week Outpatient Program at The Right Step includes group therapy classes that you will be attending a minimum of three days per week. As you move forward in this course, you will now progress to Session Four, wherein you will delve deeper into your education regarding the addiction cycle.
Addiction Treatment Locations
Residents of local Texas and New Mexico cities including Aransas Pass, Brazosport, Brenham, Cleveland, Corpus Christi, El Campo and Albuquerque often receive treatment for their addiction to drugs or alcohol through the Outpatient Programs at one of 20 convenient Right Step locations.
Out patient Alcohol Treatment and Outpatient Drug Treatment programs are offered in Austin TX, Baytown TX, Beaumont TX, Conroe TX, Dallas TX, Euless TX, Plano TX, Houston TX, Clear Lake TX, Ft. Bend TX, Pasadena TX, The Woodlands TX, San Antonio TX, Wimberley TX, Albuquerque NM.
Residential Treatment centers in DFW, Houston and Austin are also provided for recovery from addiction disease, attracting individuals from Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Arizona and other areas of the United States to participate in recovery programs at The Right Step.
