Drug Rehabilitation-Substance Abuse Addiction Relapse – Outpatient Program
Once you have moved forward into Session Six of the Outpatient Program at The Right Step, you will be guided by experienced, licensed professionals through the understanding of the many particular experiences of the addiction relapse process.
Nearing the end of the education regarding these relapse stages, you will learn about the second to last point of the relapse process, which is the end of current sobriety through the reinstatement of active drug abuse or alcoholism.
The buildup of stress and pain involved in the first nine aspects of the relapse process will have created a feeling so intense that the drug addict or alcoholic will feel they are left with only three choices.
Addictive Thinking
The choices a relapse prone individual may conclude they have now are physical or emotional collapse, suicide for finality or substance abuse to self medicate.
This line of thinking generally leads the individual suffering from the disease of alcohol or drug addiction to once again begin drinking alcohol or abusing drugs as their only conceivable means of survival. Addictive thinking of this nature leads the substance abuse addict to feel that drinking alcohol and using drugs is actually the reasonable choice to make.
