Alcoholics and Drug Addicts: Healthy Activities During Addiction Recovery
During your outpatient addiction treatment at The Right Step, you will be helped to consider the various activities in your life that may be healthy and unhealthy for you in your attempt to achieve positive change and a drug-free lifestyle.
There are many possible activities that you may be able to participate in which would not be addiction triggers for you, making your journey toward long-term sobriety more difficult.
You will be presented with a few possibly beneficial activities to help you in recovering from an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Some of these may be exercising, participating in church activities, attending 12-step meetings, picking up a brand new hobby that you never did before, having a more structured lifestyle with monitored periods of activities, eating, sleeping and watching movies that are not drug-related.
Becoming active in any of these beneficial activities in sobriety may be part of what can assist you in moving forward beyond the “honeymoon” stage of sobriety that you will be learning about next in your treatment for addiction at The Right Step.
