Chlamydia Symptoms in Women: Addiction Treatment Education - Outpatient Program
Receiving treatment for an addiction to drugs or alcohol is possible by participating in the Outpatient Program at The Right Step. Session Eleven of your outpatient addiction treatment will include learning many details about a variety of STIs.
At this point in your alcohol or drug treatment course you will be learning about the symptoms of Chlamydia in women. You will discover that Chlamydia is often called the “Silent Epidemic” because it may be present in women even when it months or years pass before it is discovered.
If Chlamydia remains untreated pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) can occur.
Chlamydia Statistics Provided During Outpatient Addiction Treatment
You will also learn about the statistics that have shown that women infected with Chlamydia are 5 times more like to become infected with HIV.
PID which can be caused by untreated Chlamydia is a generic term for an infection of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and/or ovaries. PID can cause scarring inside the reproductive organs, which can later cause serious complications, including chronic pelvic pain, difficulty becoming pregnant, ectopic (tubal) pregnancy and other dangerous complications of pregnancy.
Chlamydia causes between 250,000 to 500,000 cases of PID every year in the U.S.

Residential Treatment centers in DFW, Houston and Austin are also provided for recovery from addiction disease, attracting individuals from Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Arizona and other areas of the United States to participate in recovery programs at The Right Step.
