Continuing Drug and Alcohol Abuse Treatment

Treatment for an addiction to drugs or an addiction to alcohol is provided through the eight-week Outpatient Treatment program at The Right Step.  A series of informative Sessions are provided by supportive, experienced instructors that can assist you as you continue along in your drug and alcohol abuse treatment, working toward achieving long-term positive change in your life.

You will learn that there are phases in the life of the recovering addict and that the disease of addiction may influence both your behaviors and your thought processes.  Many who have entered into recovery and remained sober for a period of time have begun to experience the influence of the addicted brain, where the thought of using drugs and alcohol may have seemed to begin to make sense again.

Threats to Addiction Recovery during the Wall Phase

However, you will find that things can be kept in check if addiction treatment contact is continued.  As by this point, you will have learned about the process in addiction recovery call “The Wall” you will also learn that even though feelings of apathy or depression may have arisen, treatment termination is a threat during the Wall.

Preparation for these feelings during the Honeymoon period (early abstinence) and constant encouragement during the Wall are critical to ensure addiction treatment continuation.  Returning to your old behaviors can create anhedonia, feelings of anger, depression, emotional swings, unclear thinking, isolation, family problems, the return of drug and alcohol cravings, irritability and even a violation of your pledge to yourself to remain abstinent from using drugs and drinking alcohol.
