Drug and Alcohol Addiction: Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Symptoms of Chlamydia in Men - Outpatient Program
You will learn from The Right Step Outpatient treatment program that Chlamydia affects men of all backgrounds and economic levels, including alcoholics and drug users. Some of the information that will be provided to you in your outpatient addiction treatment will include the specific symptoms of Chlamydia that may occur in men. While there may not be any symptoms, it is also possible that a man with Chlamydia may experience pain when urinating, a genital discharge, swollen and tender testicles or even a fever.
If Chlamydia spreads to the testicles it can cause epididymitis. Chlamydia may also cause reactive arthritis, particularly in young men. The discharge that may be experienced in men can be a white, cloudy or watery discharge. If epididymitis is caused sterility may result if this STI is not treated within 6 to 8 weeks. Chlamydia causes more than 250,000 cases of epididymitis in the USA each year.
