Roadmap To Recovery: Beneficial Activities in Addiction Recovery
Learning to implement the addition of beneficial activities in your addiction recovery is a part of the Outpatient Addiction Treatment Program provided by The Right Step in the series of educational group sessions provided during this eight-week course.
You will begin learning how to structure your lifestyle for helping achieve recovery from addiction through practice while attending treatment for your addiction disease. Clients at The Right Step will create structure by organizing and planning their time using schedule sheets that will be provided during this group therapy for addiction.
With the help of your drug and alcohol addiction counselor, you will complete this scheduling procedure to help you along the path toward positive change. You will learn that structure should incorporate the sampling of new drug-free behavioral options, including attendance at 12-Step meetings, physical exercise, new or long dormant recreational/leisure activities, as well as work and family related events.
Planning Daily for a Drug-Free Lifestyle
The end result will be a daily plan for activities that promotes recovery from substance abuse addiction and reduces the possibility of boredom, impulsive decision making, addictive behavior, and relapse into drug and alcohol abuse.
You will also learn that creating structure in your life and participating in beneficial activities for recovery may include school, participating in sports, associating with drug-free friends, scheduling your day to day activities, going to work, as well as attending family events and the religious activities that pertain to your particular faith.
