Substance Abuse and Disease: STI Health Risks - Outpatient Program
The experienced, professional medical staff at The Right Step Outpatient addiction treatment program will familiarize you with the health risks involved with sexually transmitted infections.
The first part of Session Eleven discusses many details regarding sexually transmitted diseases and sexually transmitted infections. Some of the points that will be covered in your informative addiction treatment class will include the results of these STIs.
STIs can result in irreparable lifetime damage, cause blindness, bone deformities, and mental retardation. STIs can also cause death for infants infected by their mothers during pregnancy or birth. For women, STIs may lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease in women, cause infertility, fatal ectopic pregnancies and cancer of the reproductive tract.
Addiction Treatment Program: STI Health Consequences
During your eight-week outpatient addiction treatment, you will continue to increase your understanding of the various health consequences of sexually transmitted infections.
Licensed, supportive instructors will guide you through information about Cancers that can be caused via STIs. These include Cervical Cancer (HPV) and Liver Cancer (Hepatitis B.)
STIs also cause problems for infants such as prematurity, low birth weight, blindness, deformities and dementia.
