Withdrawal from Drug and Alcohol Addiction: Roadmap to Recovery
Withdrawal from a drug addiction or alcohol addiction is a normal experience during substance abuse addiction recovery that will be discussed during Outpatient Treatment at The Right Step. During this eight-week addiction treatment program, you will learn about the relapse factors that may occur during the withdrawal stage.
As people experience drug and alcohol withdrawal, they are often disoriented, depressed, fatigued, and feel very much out of control. It may be difficult for the substance abuse addict to understand what is happening to them. This makes it necessary for them to receive very explicit direction during this period of addiction recovery.
Biology of Addiction: Relapse Factors and Drug/Alcohol Withdrawal
Supportive, licensed instructors will help you to understand that during this stage, drug and alcohol triggers, thoughts, and cravings may be prevalent. The biology of addiction includes a depleted neurochemistry that translates into irritability, depression and disordered sleep.
Some of the addiction relapse factors to be discussed are those of unstructured time, the proximity of triggers, alcohol and marijuana use, powerful drug and alcohol cravings, paranoia that may be experienced, the prevalence of depression and disordered sleeping patterns.
