Addiction Treatment Information: Stimulants and Drug Abuse
Outpatient addiction treatment is available at The Right Step to help individuals who suffer from the disease of addiction, whether that is an addiction to alcohol or an addiction to drugs of any type.
During this particular addiction treatment session, you will be learning about various pill addictions in detail. We are now going to be addressing the addiction to stimulants catecholamines.
You will have the chance to learn more about the way that a tolerance develops within this specific drug class. You are also going to have the opportunity to also learn about Ritalin, which is not an amphetamine but has the same effect as that drug addiction.
Another drug you will be learning about is Adderal, which is actually 2 amphetamines together and is often used for ADHD, although its use is controversial. This is in part because of the paradoxical effect that Adderal has had in children.
Pills of Addiction
We will also be discussing diet pills and methamphetamine, which is easily made from cold medicine. An alternative that is used for ADHD, which is not a stimulant, is Strattera.
The next addictive pill that we will be discussing in this portion of your outpatient addiction recovery program will be Opiates Endorphins, which is also injectable. This drug type includes Morphine, Heroin, Demerol, Dilaudid, Stadol, Nubain, Buprenorphine and oral medications such as Vicodin, Lorcet, Lortab, Norco, Percodan, OxyContin, Ultram, Darvon and Methadone.
Finally, we are addressing the topic of Narcotics such as Opium that will be discussed in the addiction treatment program at The Right Step. Opium Morphine includes Codeine and Heroin, which was originally smoked in opium dens.
We will discuss the fact that Heroin is very addicting, that Morphine is considered the gold standard in medical community for pain control and that Codeine, which is also regularly prescribed by the medical community has lots of side effects including nausea, itching and constipation. For this reason, the medical community has been drifting away from prescribing codeine and moving toward prescribing synthetics, but making a comeback in liquid preparation with phenergan, which is called “the drink.”
