The Biology of Addiction: Substance Abuse Treatment
The group addiction treatment discussions that will be included in this portion of your eight week outpatient substance abuse recovery program at The Right Step will include learning more about the ways that drug addiction and alcohol addiction is physiologic.
You will learn about the genetic inheritance that predisposes a body’s chemistry to addiction, as well as more about the behaviors and habits that lead to a change in body chemistry and result in dependency on drugs and dependency on alcohol.
Recovering in Outpatient Addiction Treatment
Qualified instructors with a great deal of experience in helping people like you to recover from a substance abuse addiction will provide you with the information to understand that these changes in body chemistry consequently bring about the body’s susceptibility to becoming addicted to addictive substances and acquiring the disease of addiction.
During the minimum of three days per week while you participate in the outpatient addiction treatment program at The Right Step, you will learn that the addict’s body chemistry is now altered and therefore hyper-sensitive to all addictive substances
