The mark of a successful drug and alcohol treatment center is its ability to turn a life around. But that end is almost invariably the result of a collection of means that starts and finishes with the facility’s staff.

At The Right Step, treatment professionals establish relationships with each client from the moment he or she walks in the door. They also teach and nurture and support – to a degree that not only makes a difference, but leads to a lasting change.

Not Your Ordinary Joe

How One Man Took The Right Step to Begin a Journey to Recovery

Dr Jason Powers, Chief Medical OfficerDr. Jason Powers knows down and out. He sees it every day in the faces of the people battling drug and alcohol addiction who turn to The Right Step treatment centers for help.

As chief medical officer at The Right Step, Powers also knows what success looks like.

In fact, it looks a lot like Joe.

“Joe came in trying to stay sober from prescription pills and alcohol,” Powers recalls. “He was close to being completely cut off from his father and had lost relationships with his siblings. He was overweight, unhealthy, and sad.”

He was basically the “before” picture Powers sees so often when someone fighting addiction walks through the center’s door for the first time.

My Support System

How The Right Step Helps Clients and their Families Stay on the Road to Recovery

Corina remembers vividly how she felt as she reached to open the door to The Right Step drug and alcohol treatment center for the first time. The emotional gamut ran from scared to angry, with “extremely worried” sprinkled liberally into the mix.

When she reached to open the door at the conclusion of her inpatient stay at the center, she simply said, “Wowww!”

Yes, she sang the conventional “wow” and raised it a couple of “Ws.” The Right Step made that much difference in her life.

“I was truly amazed at how [remarkable] the place was,” she recalled several months after treatment. “The center is nice. The food is pretty good. The staff is very nice and accommodating. And the classes/lectures are inspiring. This was truly the best experience of my life!”

How The Right Step Alums Help Each Other Beat Alcohol and Drug Addictions

An effective drug rehabilitation facility makes its mark in a variety of ways, most notably in the success stories its alums tell after they’ve undergone treatment and discovered a healthy, sober life.

The staff at The Right Step realizes that treatment is simply one facet of an ongoing process that leads to recovery from alcohol- and drug-dependence. Aftercare is also a vital step on this course. In fact, it’s the step that most likely determines how well recovering addicts stay the course.

That’s why The Right Step’s Alumni Program is tailored for the long haul. It is available to graduates of any facility, and it provides a social support network consisting of other people in recovery who have faced the same temptations…people who eagerly share the means they’ve used to lead sober, productive lives, after initial treatment.

My previous treatment center experience in 2001 was not a good one. This one [at The Right Step] was refreshing from the moment I stepped onto the property. There was humor, love, and a feeling of serenity like I had never experienced.

I spent five days in detox, where the nurses continually assured me that I was going to be okay. I emerged from detoxification and checked into the residential program, which began a 30-day journey full of laughter, tears, structure, balance, insight, solution, reflection and, most importantly, hope.
