We offer a wide selection of therapies so that together we can craft a treatment plan that effectively guides you along your recovery path. Available therapies vary by location and are based on clinical need and length of stay.

Approaches and therapies include:

Individual, Group and Family Therapy

You’ll receive one-on-one counseling sessions with a primary therapist as well as group therapy that helps you build valuable interpersonal skills and gain support from others sharing similar circumstances. Family therapy is also an important part of treatment at all of our centers.

Positive Recovery®

Developed by our chief medical officer, Dr. Jason Powers, this pioneering, strength-based approach to addiction treatment is at the core of all that we do. The Daring WayTM

Our addiction treatment centers have certified The Daring Way™ facilitators onsite, and we use The Daring Way™ shame resilience curriculum as a formal treatment modality. This curriculum was developed by best-selling author and renowned TED Talks speaker Dr. Brené Brown and teaches resiliency, acceptance and authenticity. Learn More

Rising StrongTM

Based on Dr. Brené Brown’s research and book “Rising Strong,” these groups build upon the work our clients do in The Daring WayTM shame-resilience groups. Clients learn that when we show up bravely and authentically, we may still stumble, and that’s this is okay. Groups offer ways to “get back up” and focus on lessons learned during setbacks.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is an evidence-based therapy that helps you recognize self-defeating thoughts and behaviors and learn more functional, adaptive ways of dealing with challenges. It is effective in addressing a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction and other mental health disorders. (residential program)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

A form of cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT helps you accept who you are in the present moment, but also realize that in order to meet your goals, changes are needed. This approach draws upon practices like mindfulness, acceptance of difficulties as normal, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation. DBT has been shown to have positive effects on substance abuse, anger and depression, among other mental health issues.(residential program)

Motivational Interviewing

This goal-oriented therapy includes you as an active decision-maker in the therapeutic process and provides a collaborative therapeutic relationship instead of traditional doctor-and-patient roles. Your counselor will help you discover your own wisdom and motivation for change within a supportive, accepting environment. (residential program)

Creative Therapies

We offer alternative therapeutic approaches such as music and art therapy so that you have the opportunity to explore emotions and challenges in a different setting than traditional talk therapy. The creative process can help you uncover underlying issues and express yourself in different ways, providing opportunities for discovery, healing and creative problem-solving. (residential program)

Mindfulness Practices

Activities like meditation that help you get outside of your head and focus on the present moment are integrated into treatment. We have certified experts who lead these activities, exposing you to healthy practices you can incorporate into your life after treatment.(residential program)

Recreational Activities

Life without drugs and alcohol can be fulfilling and fun. We help you realize that through community outings and activities such as movies, parks, museums, games and more.

Nutrition

As part of our overall focus on a healthy lifestyle, we emphasize the importance of proper nutrition in recovery. Our onsite nutritionist works with our professional chef and kitchen staff to ensure meals are both delicious and nutritious and any dietary needs or deficiencies are attended to. We’ll teach you about the benefits of eating healthily and how to continue this practice when you leave treatment. (residential program)

Fitness

Our onsite fitness instructor conducts comprehensive fitness assessments for residential clients and then creates individualized fitness plans. You’ll have access to an onsite gym and outdoor sports courts for basketball, tennis and volleyball and discover how exercise and physical activity aid in your recovery. (residential program)

12-Step Involvement

During treatment, you’ll participate in onsite and offsite meetings, step work, packet work, workshops, and more. We also offer 12-step alternatives for those who do not relate to the 12-step recovery method.

Gender-Separate Groups

To create a safe, supportive environment free from distractions, we provide gender-separate programming and housing. This allows you to concentrate on treatment and express yourself freely without diversions that the opposite sex can bring.

Medication Management

You’ll receive a thorough biopsychosocial assessment to determine whether medication can aid you in recovery. If you’re currently taking prescribed medications, these will be assessed to ensure they are the most appropriate for your diagnosis. Our onsite medical team uses research-backed medications, as appropriate, to ease cravings and withdrawal symptoms that might be present during detoxification and in the early recovery process. Addiction Education

We’ll help you understand the disease of addiction through regular psychoeducational classes on addiction and recovery. You’ll learn about the science of addiction, what contributes to it, what sustains it and the most effective ways to ensure healthy, long-term recovery.
