The Right Step Houston Central recently hosted a “The Right Step Country Fair” for the clients, their families, and the staff. Everyone had a blast during the event-packed afternoon. Grant Perry, Ashley Tamburine, and the rest of the planning committee made sure there were lots of different carnival games for the attendees to enjoy, including water balloon toss, ladder ball, bean bag toss, and watermelon eating contest, just to name a few. Clients and their families were even given the opportunity to “pie” counselors, Sarah Hutto and Ron Knice in the face at the pie toss booth! Tickets were given away at all the different game booths and could be redeemed by Linda Burdg for an array of fun prizes from colorful water bottles to stuffed animals to temporary tattoos. Many cooled off in the afternoon heat by devouring the red, white, and blue snow cones prepared by Vicki Piper, along with munching down some delicious corn roasted by Regi Stewart. After all the games were completed, everyone went inside to enjoy a talent show coordinated by Mark Chapman who donned a fancy get-up to go with his stellar voice. The audience was blown away by the amazing performances by several clients and staff members including Brooke Benestante, Sharon Hinds, and Chris Davis. A number of people left the fair with impressive balloon creations fashioned by two cheery clowns, while others got their faces painted with rainbows and sea creatures by Erica Fernette. There was also an entire table full of desserts for everyone to enjoy! Yum! It was a great fun-filled afternoon for everyone who participated and really showed that living life sober can be an absolute blast!
